On the 20th of April 2024 (Saturday), the Chung Cheng Alumni put together a Homecoming Lunch in line with our school’s 85th Anniversary. This event saw the return of generations of former students to the CCHM campus, many of whom are well into their 70s or 80s! It was indeed a heartwarming sight to behold, as our seniors down through the years went around taking photos of the campus, reminiscing about their schooling days and wondering what has changed since they graduated.
Our friends from the Performing Arts, Lion Dance and Festival Drums across both CCHM and CCHY also put up various performances and had the festive vibes reverberating throughout the school.
Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, graced the occasion and expressed his heartfelt wishes for the Chung Cheng family of schools. Along with Minister Chan were invited guests from our list of former Principals, retired staff and friends of Chung Cheng. None of this would have been possible if not for the tireless work of our staff, student leaders and performers, and of course the Chung Cheng Alumni. (Specially thanks to Mr Ng Sin Wee Benny for contributing this article)

28/01/2023 at the “Chinese New Year Gathering” hosted by The Alumni of Chung Cheng High School at Yishun Branch ended successfully. It was also the Seventh Day of the first lunar calendar, and many alumni returned to the school to celebrate the new year together. Thanks to the directors and the principals of Chung Cheng High School for their support, and with the help of teachers and students, this event was successfully held and completed. The performance for this year is also more than in previous years, making the activities more exciting. It is worth mentioning that the two school directors, Ms. Sim Bee Hia and Mr. Aw Chye Wee, sponsored New Year’s hongbao to the elderly alumni over 70 years old and 80 senior citizens from Cheng Hong Welfare Service. Mr. Khoo dressed as The God of Wealth making the event even more colourful. The two emcees of the day were also experienced, so the performance ran smoothly. On that day, alumni also actively participated in charity activities. Singapore Kidney Foundation ( NKF) would like to thank the Alumni for giving them the opportunity to raise funds for kidney patients on the day of the Chinese New Year’s Celebration. The total amount of NKF donations raised was $425. “We are very grateful to the Alumni of Chung Cheng High School for giving us this fundraising opportunity, and I can feel the enthusiasm, friendship, love, and care for the community of the alumni.” In addition, the alumni who attended the event also donated $587 to the Activity Fund. The statue of "Zhongzheng Ren" was erected on the shore of Zhongzheng Lake in 1969. When the late Chung Cheng High School’s art teacher Yang Huimin led the students to build this statue, he revealed that he hoped to express the concept of "tolerance is great, no desire is rigid" with the statue, and also echoed the spirit of "the middle of the right, the greatest to the most rigid " sung in the first sentence of the Zhongzheng School Song.
The National Art Museum has also opened its exhibition on July 28, 2022 as a permanent memorial to the original collection of “Zhongzheng Ren" in the sculpture works of Teacher Yang Huimin.
The exhibition runs from 29 July to 5 February 2023 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The Spine Hall and Ngee Ann Central Hall, Ground Floor Hall, B1, National Gallery of Singapore (1 St Andrew's Rd #01-01S178958). Admission is free, including for non-citizens.
Mr Teo Lian Kiat, the Chairman of The Alumni of Chung Cheng High School, personally attended this exhibition to support the event.
